By Karolina Yaschenko, Ukrainian Academy of Leadership
For the second consecutive year, OIDJ virtually hosted international students as participants. Despite a time difference that kept them working late into the night, these students learned from the OIDJ instructors, connected with the Oklahoma students and produced media work for the website. In this Q&A, Karolina Yaschenko answers a series of questions.
Q: Where were you born?
A: I was born in the city of Chudniv, Zhytomyr region
Q: Do you have brothers or sisters? If so, are they older or younger than you?
A: I have a younger sister who is 10 years old
Q: How old are you? What year are you in school?
A: I am 16 years old. I have already graduated from school.
Q: What are some of your favorite classes in school?
A: My favorite lesson was geography.
Q: What are some of your hobbies or how you spend time outside of school?
A: My hobby is volleyball, and I am also engaged in entrepreneurship and volunteering.
Q: What are your plans for the future (college, career, things like that?)
A: To study at the Ukrainian Academy of Leadership.
Q: What would you like to say to Americans about the war in Ukraine?
A: Currently, the mass media do not agree on many things about the war, many things are kept silent or simply fly out of context, although in reality everything is much worse than it seems. Although the war meant to divide our country, it was able to unite us. Thousands of people who before fought for different values, now they fight for only one thing – our independence and peace on our land.
