A young boy grown into a young man develops his passion for helping others and spreading awareness for issues people do not want to talk about.
This young man is senior Anthony Council of Carrollton, Texas. Ever since he was young, Council has wanted to have a career in journalism and film.
“I got to take part in a short film when I was 9, which was a lot of fun and that’s how I became interested in journalism” Council said.
Council was recommended by his teacher to join the weeklong OIDJ program. He wrote short stories throughout his high school career and watched lots of television to develop his journalism skills.
Council also has his own podcast called the Daily Double, which he hosts with two other people. The focus of his podcast is from everyday peoples’ struggles to school and anything else in between.
“I’ve always been passionate about learning people’s stories and getting answers to questions that others don’t want to get,” council said.
In the future, council plans to attend college. Unsure of his major now, he plans to study broadcast journalism, radio, TV and film or even screenwriting. He also wants to take his podcast to a new level and eventually turn it into a day time TV show.
