Fort Worth, Texas, is a fast-paced city of 935,508 people, which could seem intimidating to those flourishing in its city limits.
Though challenges may come with having such a dense forest of people surrounding her, Eboni Montgomery, a 17-year-old rising senior at Crowley High School takes her time shaping her education and her passions for the better.
Being an only child, Eboni still had a plethora of cousins, aunts and uncles to cheer for her on the path to success, alongside her loving mother who supported her in her goals and encouraged her to keep reaching for the stars.
Among those, is sports. Growing up, Eboni dabbled in volleyball, soccer, track, softball and even cheer. Out of all of these, soccer really spoke to Eboni, as she has been playing since she was 5, typically playing the wings or midfield where a lot of running is required.
“(Soccer) can get confrontational at times — especially with my position”
Besides sports, the passionate teen loves to hang out with her friends and listen to music, specifically Summer Walker and SZA because she enjoys R&B and hip hop. When she’s not relaxing and enjoying life, Eboni works her tail off in both her work at Raising Cane’s and in her studies at school, and can be described as very task driven and focused, who some may even describe as a perfectionist.
Eboni is active in broadcast journalism specifically. Though there isn’t much electricity between Eboni and the everyday news as she doesn’t particularly find interest in it, her very own talk show sounds preferable in comparison to anchoring.
Eboni hadn’t thought about the topic of this hypothetical show, but she explains that she wants to help others by interviewing them and many other things related. Eboni doesn’t have a particular host she feels inspired by, but she could challenge Jennifer Hudson with her sense of humor and charming demeanor.
In order to achieve this goal, she plans on pursuing a degree in journalism at either UT Austin, University of Houston or at the University of Oklahoma.
Eboni decided on her major through her own research overtime. She knew she wanted to help people in some shape or form, and found that her love for telling stories would be the best way to apply herself.
Before deciding on journalism as a career path, Eboni says that she held a passion for general pediatrics due to this urge of serving others. When she was younger, medicine spoke to her interests, but pediatrics specifically caught her eye since Eboni loves spending time with children and wishes to help them in any way she can.
“I want to work with kids,” she said, “I like helping people out”
Though Eboni still retains an appreciation for compassion, she decided not to go pursue medical school based on how long and tiring that process would be.
After college, Eboni will be likely to find a talk show to host and help others with by giving life advice, showing her love for people and by validating others feelings thanks to her endearing personality and her strive for success.
