Jordyn Daniels, a student at Harding Charter Preparatory High School, is a reporter, golfer and avid Netflix watcher. She’s a shy person, but when you get to know her, her personality shines.
“What they see on the outside is not how (I am),” Daniels says.
Born in Salt Lake City and moved to Oklahoma in third grade, she had to find her niche in a new school and with new friends as well. At the beginning of her junior year, she joined a student-organized online newspaper, and she said that taught her a lot about people and herself.
“Gives me a way to express my opinion and voice,” she says about the newspaper.
The school’s newspaper is called the Marionette, and the staff members write about different organizations, activities and interesting events in or around the school.
Daniels says reporting a good story can be challenging, like trying to get a mime to speak. Getting the right information from people for the story is not an easy thing to do.
“My first year as a reporter I did struggle. I wasn’t sure what to do but with guidance I was able to find my way,” Daniels says.
Daniels says she’s emerging from her shell and growing in her craft as a reporter. With only one year in the Marionette program, she is still getting her feet wet.
She is still figuring out what she wants to pursue after high school. However, she feels agricultural business is the path she needs to follow because her family has a history in that line of work.
“My mom graduated from Langston University, and they have an excellent agricultural business program. I’ve been looking there to go to school. It’s a family thing,” Daniels says.
